Any Reloaders Here?
Any one else roll their own ammo?
A friend of mine and I reload for our AR's and I have an uncle that reloads for my everything else. He has a lot more time than I do, plus its an absolute passion for him.
Saves a lot of money if you shoot alot. Plus it's real rewarding when you get an accurate load taylored.
I am fortunate that at my buddy's house we built a 100 yard range off of his porch. Load up 5 rounds, shoot, check groups, adjust. Pretty cool.

I load and shoot around 10,000 rounds a year. I load for around 25 different cartridges ranging from the 25ACP up to the 45-120. I'm also a moderator on www.handloads.com so check it out sometime, great forum.

Actually I do a lot of my loading on a single stage RCBS press. I don't own a Dillion and probably never will. I do have 7 different presses though, but only one is full progressive. My numbers have come down a bit since I got married, but I'm still up around 6-7K a year at least. There are a couple of ones not in this picture, but here is a sompling of what I load for.

The handgun cartridge on the far right is the 500 S&W, and yes the big round with an almost 4" overall length is the 45-120.
BTW< the handgun cartridges are:
25ACP - 9mm - 40S&W - 45ACP - 38spec - 357mag - 44mag - 45Colt - 500 S&W
The Rifle cartridges are:
22Hornet - 223 - 6.5X55 - 25-06 - 7.62X39 - 308 - 30-06 - 303Brit - 338WM - 45-70 - 45-120

I should add that my pictures do not include the 410bore, 12,16 and 20 guage shotshells I also load for.
BP loading/shooting is fun. I used to shoot competitively with muzzle loaders and have thought a time or two about draggin my 45-120 to one of the long range matches, but so far I'm only really proficient with it to about 800yds.

800 yds. is still a pretty good shot for a black powder. I have a Hawkins .50 (reproduction) I use to deer hunt from time to time, and it does pretty decent for a smooth bore. My '61 Springfield .69 (reproduction) I've never live fired and not sure I want to, it's just for reenacting. I'd like to pick up an Enfield too, the Springfield is such a PITA to keep clean.

where did you find a smoothbore Hawkins? I have 4 hawkins rifles, but no hawkins muskets. I'd love to see pics if you have them. that would be an interesting piece
Oh, out here the "normal" range on BP cartridge shoots is 800yds with a couple of them going out to 1000-1200yds.
Most of my guns are modern, but I do have 8 black powder guns. By modern I mean smokeless, not semi-auto "black guns" I have a Parker SS shotgun made in 1885 that was valued at over half what I paid for my truck!! It's a high grade with tons of engraving and roughly 93% condition
For good gun related conversations (not to take away from this site at all) feel free to drop in at www.handloads.com and see what you find there. I'll still follow the threads here, but there are pages of tech data and stuff over there that may help folks out too.
