Default Need Advice Polaris 6x6 W/Sno Trax

OK listen up heres the deal

I can get an excellent deal on these used snow trax but I am told they wont bolt right up on a Polaris 6x6, these trax are made for Polaris so the front axle will bolt right up but the back axle wont.

can someone shed some light on this for me cuz I want em real bad yet I dont want to buy something that wont work.

the back axle on the 6x6 is a solid axle and the intermediate axle is independent floater

I hope to bolt up to the back axle and if it means pulling the 2 intermediate anxles and "A" arms I dont have a problem with that and just leave the gear box there to run the rear axle......looks like to me the splined yoke axles will slide right off the stub axles

someone know anything bout this????

here is a couple pics of the trax

I can tell you without major fabbing on the rear they won't work for you. On the other hand, I can tell you an alternative, which you may or may not like. Buy these if you can get them for a steal, but you're only going to use 2 of these. Next, look around for snow tracks for a Max or Argo 6x6 Amphibious ATV. They are a lot like bobcat tracks, where they simply slip over the tires (actually you drive onto them, and then bolt them together, like tank tracks). You'll need to shorten the tracks, and fit them over the rear 2 tires, and boom, you have a tracked vehicle that will go darn near anywhere. We did this on a buddy's Ranger 6x6, and I fabbed up some mounts to put ski's on the front end. Worked like a charm, but we had to put 2 ski's per side in the front, otherwise it would just sink. The Max tracks are better, because they're rubber, but they're a bit tougher to modify.

What the single rear mount looks like....
OR just buy to more to make 6!
OR if you don't want to do that, just take the rear half shafts out and it'll be like a stock Sportsman, but I'm pretty sure you wouldn't have the floatation in the back to carry big loads in the bed?

please tell me the implications on this rear axle.

I have seen the trax that go over the rear tires but would rather go with these trax deals

I measure 4-3/8" center to center on my lug studs all 6 wheels so they should bolt up???????

6 of those tracks won't fit on there stock, the wheelbase between the two rear axles isn't far enough apart. Otherwise that would be awesome! Imagine the loads you could carry over soft soil, mud, or snow... The ground load of an unloaded machine would have to be well under .5psi, even with a rider I doubt it would even come close to approaching that.

Don't think that's gonna work, that part of the suspension isn't designed to hold the weight of the quad by itself... unlike the independant suspension you want to remove is... Kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place on this one...

I forgot you had a ranger, i thought u meant the other 6x6 from polaris. But I still think the suspension won't hold it well. I don't even know if that style will fit the ranger, they sit alot lower than the wheelers do too. Tight clearnce all the way around. Another option...

^^^ Thats exactly what we did to my buddies, but the rear tracks looked a bit nicer. That thing will go anywhere! Point it and push the gas and as long as you don't wedge it and high center it, it'll float over any thickness of mud, sand, snow, you name it. We can even haul our pop-up and all our ice fishing gear, with a few coolers of "Adult Beverages" right out onto the lake with the darn thing, and not worry about sinking in the snow like it used to. I know the President of the local Snowmobile club, and he gave us full permission written on the back of his card to use the snowmobile trails. He said it tears them up less than the sleds do. I'll even pull a lawn drag with it to smooth out some of the rough sections of trail, if my buddy lets me that it, .
