Default Thoughts And Opinions Please

Got it home last night, now i need to fix it so i can drive it, still has lots of oil pressure, and the noise does not get worse under load, I am thinking it's something in the valve train, your thoughts?

Jeep Grand Cherokee?

if so i heard one that sounded just like that that ended up being the bell housing bolts were loose and there was a barely visible, tightened up the bolts and good as new. the guy that bought it "with a rod knock" as the previous owner called it, has seen this happen before.... it'll only take a 15-20 minutes to crawl up under it and put a ratchet and extension on it and make sure they are tight.

can you tell about what part os the engine that noise is coming from? front or back, right or left? i am assuming the way that you filmed it that you think thatit is coming from the back passenger side, is this correct?

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

I was thinking that it may be a lose manifold with a slight leak.

sounds to me like it is coming from mid/rear engine somewhere , i think the sound is more pronounced on the driver side, but that is mostly guess.

Yes , it is a 99 grand cherokee.

I was told it was a "rod knock" , but it sure does not sound like it to me.

I wondered about loose TC bolts, never thought of the bell housing bolts , i will have a look at them too.

Or a baseball bat, a wooden one, though... not a hollow aluminum bat with a spongy rubber grip.

sounds like a lifter or rocker arm.

It has the sound of a tap not a knock so that is a huge plus.

Step one would be to remove the valve covers and look for any abnormalities....

Could also be a bent pushrod or a pushrod pushed through a rocker. Seen that on many 5.9 and 5.2 dodges.
