aw come-on,
wouldn't you like to shoot the hands or feet off of some iraqi suicide bombers......., from like a mile-a-way......that would be so cool they would never even hear the muzzle blast......

I have a question on you stance. Isd that how they teach you how to shoot?
it just seems you would be off balance and that it wouldnt feel to good on your back. And where you're holding the front of the gun, is that how your taught as well?
Just wondering because Ihave never seen anyone hold a gun like that. but I havent really watched any of this type of shooting.

all I can say is that you would be pushed back on you butt if that gun had any kick aswell as the possibility of cracking your eye with the scope.

but I realize this is a target stance, I was just wondering if there was a theory behind standing like that.

The stance is a typical target stance-- each shooter has their own variation-- and you would be amazed at how steady it is.

You want your feet only shoulder width apart, and the ideal with the stance is that you want as much bone on bone supporting the gun. Theoretically there should be a straight line from the wrist supporting the 'front' of the rifle so that the weight is transferred down the forearm, which is positioned on the hip bone, and travels down the leg.

A match can last up to 5 hours, so more bone on bone = less muscle support = less tiring = less shaking/swaying.

The arch of my back is from centering the weight of the rifle to my core for balance and also to jut my hip out to prop my elbow on. Men have difficulty doing this because their hips are not built the same way-- therefore, many rely on a similar stance-- supporting the front of the rifle the same way but allowed to hang above the hip. It's difficult to describe...

I use a similar stance when shooting other guns, including target pistol. We don't have scopes, and with limited recoil, the further up on the comb we can scoot to look through the sights, the more accurate.

Also (sorry this is longwinded), the rifle is very customizable, so there are carefully positioned weights-- including my bloop tube aka barrell extender/weight on the end-- which eliminates any sort of issue with balancing and positioning one's self with the rifle.

I love this sport...
