Default Too Many .com's?

Hey ya'll.. I'm just curious.. Why is there such a HUGE number of Diesel Forums? I mean there seems to be way more forums about diesels than anyone could need.. Just seems it would be best to consolidate all the information and knowledge into just one or two forums..

Can anyone explain?

Thanks..

LOL.. no I aint talkin about DB Dan-o... Those are all just re-directs.. Man Ive registered on several forums before I found this one, and I like this one the best because its so well rounded.. But it seems like every day I get an email with a link to ANOTHER new Diesel or DMAX site... I mean its cool and all, but sheesh.. I just dont see a reason that they keep poppin up with all the great forums out there like this one! Why dont they just sign up here and share the knowledge..

Well theres some stubborn ignorant people out there.

theres always people who are gonna and about everything, theres no way everyone could be on one site.... if there was it be bigger than myspace for sure.

And theres a thing called money involved.

There has been a few new dmax forums made since TDP has been sold, but theyre rules are so strict on the new sites, i almost got banned for linking my how-to head light mod from DB to there.

some people i just don't understand. im trying to help some one out, but i get slapped cause im taking info thats spread out from all over the web and linking to it instead of re-creating a new thread. Yeah im lazy, but maybe the admins on some sites are scared their members will leave to a much better site.

Theres tons of knowledge on this site. and it keeps growing everyday, when i got here in october there was like 2300 members, now its almost doubled since then.

even if the info is not on here yet, it will eventually be, people just need to start askin questions. I try and help out, but im running out of people to point in the right direction since most of what i learned comes from messing with my dmax.

and so far my maintenance has been trouble free, no how-to's. or maybe im just out of ideas, some one could ask how and ill post a way how to.

But this is best diesel forum ive been on.

Most of the Diesel Forums on line are DEAD mostly in part to the owners not really putting a lot of effort in to it and letting it go stale or never getting it off the ground , you cant just start a forum and get members magically or keep them around either .

If you look around we have worked on every aspect of the site and are always working on making it better and growing it along the way .

We have never stopped Moving Forwards and we always try to keep something cool going on and people interested ,

In alot of areas we are the Best hands down , them were the easy pickings things other site owners don't really care about because its WORK or $$ Spent with no direct benefit .

We have Now Broke $8000 in Give Aways since March 13th 2007 thats more than every other diesel forums combined and we have done it with the lowest advertising rates in the industry and with Less than 5000 members and less than 200 Subscribers , Kind of make you wonder about larger forums a little and what there about , and this is why were hated on , we allow back links to other forums but ours get deleted ....there not stupid .

We have Way more features than any other diesel forum Poker, Arcade ,Casino, Blogs Ect..Ect... And we have more to offer the members because we care !

Our Smilies are the best hands down and alot of other things here and there .

Its just for fun this isnt my job i dont depend on Diesel Bombers , and by the way things have been looking around here ...im hoping the owners of the other sites dont depend on theirs .

Its not Easy to run this site its way more than i every imagined and thats coming as an Admin on a Much Larger Forum , the Ownership is a whole new ball game and its an engulfment of a lifestyle ...most are not willing to take and only realize it once they have started .

I want Diesel Bombers to Succeed So i try my best to make it happen if it dont then i cant feel bad about it knowing i did everything i could .

We seem to have a Loyal Following that we hope to grow steadily over the next million years

After over a decade on various sites, many of them I signed up on when they first hit the net so I watched em grow. They start out with good intentions but as time goes they start seein $$$$ signs. Theres a lot a money up for grabs in this business between vendors and paying members. If you look at this site in particular, as DM said we have given away over $8000 in giveaways in a year. Our advertising rates for vendors is less then 1/3rd of most of the other sites out there and we don't put the pressure on to become a paying member. 100% of the funds collected from this site go right back into it in one way or another. On other sites where does all this money go. So greed plays a big part in the downfall of other sites.

Ego. Along with finding out they can make money by killing the board with advertising they aslo discover how easy it is to impose there will on the masses and it tends to go to their heads. I've seen many a good members get appointed to staff and the whole personality changed for the worse. In our case we have our names in seperate colors so that members know who to contact if they have questions or concerns but other then that if you are ever able to pick us out of the crowd by how we treat people we have a problem. We as staff try to blend in and just be one of the guys.

Insecurity. The other sites develop a problem with insecurity always trying to pretend like they are the ony source of information out there. There members are supposed to be loyal to only them, and of course the vendors that pay to advertise there. We hope you spend time here but we know most of you do visit other sites, so be it. In my opinion this is how information is passed on. Were all for you bringing that info from other sites and posting it here to add to the collection. We dont want to infringe on their rights by just point blank copying their Tech section and posting it here. But take their info and make it into your own article and post it here along with some of your own photo's.

Local sites. On the other hand you have hundreds of local truck sites out there that are great for finding local info and help close at hand. I encourage everyone to find a local site to your area and get to know them. They fill a completley seperate void then we as a national site do. Tech info on local sites tends to become a little inbred at times because your only getting the point of view of a couple of people, usually vendors and shop owners themselves that have a personl interest in what brands you buy. That's what were here for is to get opinions from a more rounded knowledge base.

In the end, all of us on staff came here from other sites where these things have pissed us off and that's what brought us here in the first place. We take pride in this being a fun place to hang out and not just another truck site. Were also always open to new ideas or suggestions anybody may have. We may or may not be able to act on them but they will always be listened to and thought about.

Now back to your regularly scheduled broadcast. Bring out the dancin girls.

In the past 3 months I can name no less then 6 duramax sites that have started as a result of DP selling. 2 of them in particular seem to be doing well, the others seem to not be doing as well. For the most part one is geared more to racing and the other towing. Both are things that DP really did not cater to as much as these do. Both were started by very strong member or staff of DP so they had a following.

DB is unique though because for the most part we have a great mix of all brands guys that get along in off topic or the badlands so the brand bashing is never really a problem. Not to mention we really never want to over moderate any thread.

I like Dano have had many posts edited because I posted a link to DB on other sites that would have help the original poster. The staff at said sites do want to think that they are the only source for info or resource to help.

As people think this is such an easy thing to do many more sites will open. All that does is make DB look that much better because the other sites can never match the amount of time and resources that DM puts back into this site. Once people start realizing that this is an "authentic" (look that word up) they will spend more time here and this place will continue to grow by leaps and bounds.
