100A is #2 wire. Be a pretty big dryer to require a house sized service.

I don't even know if electric water heaters require 100A!

100A breaker? Are you sure that's not a 240V breaker there?

Is your dryer 120V or 220V? Sounds like something is incorrect on the ground or common side to me and that can affect the breakers ability to properly trip. Make sure it's wired right and it should only be 30A as mentioned.

100A 240V. Breaker does trip though.

I would think that if it was a ground or neutral issue you would see heat throughout the wire.
