#1: never seen a 'tranny light'. Are we talking about a 'Service Engine Soon' light?
#2: Unhooking the batts will not clear the light, take it to Autozone (or other) and have them read the code then clear it if they can.
#3: If you are going to unhook your batt, just pull - (black) first, then + (red) on the batt.
#4: changing oil *shouldn't* have anything to do with the trans or a starting problem.
Your truck is just possesed.

unhooking the battery and leaving it unhooked for a while can "clear the code" or at least the light goes off. It would still be a good idea to go to vatozone and find out what code it was. That can tell what is going on and you can fix it now before it becomes a bigger problem. The SES light can be a transmission problem, but you need the trouble code to know.
Given that the Sub didn't want to start and it is fine now......were the cables good and tight/clean when you took them off the battery? a poor connection, low voltage, etc can make a vehicle throw codes and drive poorly.

yea i just left it unhooked, the day before i was playing around with the air breather, i took it off and blew it out, I was also looking at the fuses etc...maybe i bumbed a wire or something...the bat cables are on pretty good...the light looked like an engine not a tranny. sorry RSWORDS you where right about that. Devin sprayed some engine degreaser on it, perhaps that messed up the connections?
Its all good now but lexi lost the keys in there somewhere,
Do shops charge to read the codes?
My daughter came home and said mom listen to my car, shes got a little 1.9l ford escort..i said well honey your moter fine but your muffler fell off...
So i just took a pop can and pie plate with two clamps and put it back together for her so she could go to work...
