I had a cottonmouth coil up underneath my hunting bag in a tree stand once, I dozed off for a half hour or so, never saw the thing come up the ladder, or however he got up. About 3 hours he was under there, and when I turned around and started down the ladder, I stopped two rungs down and grabbed my bag, exposing the snake. He wasn't happy that I took his warm little hideout, thank god he got a nice big bite into the bag and not me. I threw the bag, with the little sucker in tow, and in turn fell out of my stand, gun and all. I was happier with the broken rib than the possible snakebite, . The snake didn't fare so well, somehow he got stuck to the bag, and I was so pissed I shot him, a 12ga and a broken rib don't mix well, , I think he had less pain then I did going back to the cabin.

Only three kinds of snakes around here bother me. Cotton mouths, Baby Copperheads and Bandits(half copperhead half cotton mouth). Monday i was getting scrap from this house they were tearing down on the farm turned over an old push more and im face to face with a big black rat snake. Starteld me a little but he went his own away. I got the mower and went mine.
