ok, So this year I joined the NRA for 2 years for the first time in like 7-8 years, because of the up and coming anti gun ***** running for pres.
I figure I have to do something.
Well Now I remember why i stopped being a member in the first place. Holy **** batman. I get at least 1-3 letters a week for renewing and upgrading my membership. its freaking annoying.then to top it off I get a letter with petions that NRA will send to my state government to help levy against anti gun laws. Then it asks for a donation of 25,50, 100, 500 dollars to help the cost of this fight. WTF isnt that what the membership is for? Last i knew it didnt cost anything to hand paper in.
If they stopped sending so much B.S. letters and such they would have an excess amount of money to work with. it just bothers me that I have to be constantly hounded. Now if I wasnt a memeber and they were trying to gain my membership and sent me all this crap I wouldnt join. a couple of letters a year would be fine. but hell I think they would want to save the trees a bit.
Then to make me even more made they offer better gifts after I sign up and get a hat that I'll never wear.
Does anyone feel the same way?

That is exactly the reason i didnt renew a yr ago. I called and talked to someone after i got tired of all the BS they were sending me along with the constant asking for donations. Well lets just say the person i talked to was umm,,,, not very helpful. He basically told me tough that's just what comes along with the membership and i would be a "better member" if i donated at least $100 a yr like everyone else.

 

I hear ya brother, I donated to the police officers one year, and now they constantly harass me! Geez! just leave me alone! I will donate again.

 

I get calls from the NRA still today. I haven't been a member for almost 10 years. That was the reason I left in the first place. money, money, money...

Yeah, The police are just as bad. I get calls from sheriff and police chief assoc. that I don't even know where they are from. The other side of PA I think.

 

my dad made the mistake of becoming lifetime member...what a frigging joke, so much crap comes here. They've stopped calling...when NRA comes up on the caller ID I get a wild hair and when they ask for money, kind of him and haw, "well, I'm kinding hurting right now, and I been meaning to call you and see if you couldn't donate some money to me. You know, my trucks broke down, my dog had puppies, the cow quit givin milk, the well run dry. We really hurtin man" they don't call anymore.

 

Yep I'm done too. The only reason I joined was because my old gun club required it. If they spent $$$ a little more wisely I would continue my membership I don't want any mags or any more stinking junk mail/Email. I did get a very nice range bag though.
