Default Used Air Tools.....

yeah i need some, preferably air ratchets, anyone know a shop that is willing to donate some to a good cause, as in Supporting the Troops.......i dont want new stuff just something that is or has to be rebuilt or used but still in good condition........we got impacts but working on these HMMWV's is almost impossible with impacts, we need atleast a 3/8 and a 1/2 inch air ratchet........ill pay to have them rebuilt and shipped over here after i get my first check in 2 weeks, they wont supply us with them and if we had them we could turn stuff out 10X's faster for the troops instead of making them wait........like i said, ill pay to ship and for the rebuild or atleast for the parts or something........remember this is for the troops not us......

UMMMM I think the government has plenty of tools. Maybe the company that sent you over there needs to invest in better equipment for you guys.

If by they, you mean that the millitary supply system won't supply them, ahh fooey. If the company is supposed to supply your shop, well, then your own your own there. Not knowing any details of where you are or what your doin I don't know what kinda shop your in. If your in a combined maintenance area, the tool room should have all kinds of that stuff waitin for you. If your shop is dedicated to just contractors then you need to be makin friends with the supply room boys on the Army side. 18 years in the Army Supply Business I can say with all certainty that if you need these tools and don't have them it's not because they are not available, it's because somebody isn't doin their job.

Even if your in a contractor only shop, most of the guys runnin the tool rooms and property books are ex Army and should know how to play the game if you can give em a reason to get out of a chair.

Man if I wasn't married, the money they were offering me to go over there and run property books after I retired was insane. The wife put a quick HELL NO and that. thought.

Army wont and cant supply us with stuff, we are contractor only, and asking for this stuff from KBR is like pulling teeth.....

So KBR's contract is to repair vehicles, btu they don't provide the tools?

Is this position a typical mechanic position where you are expected to provide your own tools?

no they provide us with tools but since they arent "our" tools, the guys before us have lost them and the hadji's have stole stuff and like any other shop, they wont buy us decent stuff for that reason, hence the no air ratchets thing......

It sounds like very poor management if they pay you to do nothing.

Like I said before, you just need to make friends with the boys over in the Army side tool room. We loaned stuff out to contractors all the time, when we saw fit.
