When I open Windows Messenger I get an error, not from Windows or Mcafee, says my computer was infected by an unknown trojan. Asks me to download a program to clean it. So I ran Mcfee and Ad-Aware 2007. Neither found anything. What to do next?

Anyone ever mess w/ Norton? It always choked my computer to death before the malicious code ever got a chance to.

 

Norton eats your computers resources..... it always slooowwwed my computer down to much for me. I also like FREE.

 

used to run norton years ago til i got a back door virus and norton never ever found it, scraped norton and went to avg

 

I run Norton, Spybot, CCleaner, and ad-aware. Between them they have covered everything so far. In my case Norton works great and the lifetime updates came with it, but I'm also only using 18% of my disk space though to, so there is plenty of space for it to spread out.

 

Maybe it's time for change. Windows already has you covered w/ a firewall and malicious s/w removal.
