Default Not sure if many are interested, but here it goes !!!

So... the 4cylinder 1900cc (M43B19) engine in my BMW 3 series (E46 for the fanatics) gave up... took it's beating, and then fell on it's face...

did take a good beating though...

I am going to be swapping a V8 from a same generation 5 series (the E39 for those familiar) that has a 3,5liter displacement, 260hp and 280ft.lbs and a more stout note to it

That engine is called M62B35 with Technical Updates (TU)

Motor comes from car with VIN:
WBADN11090GD94869

Transplant car has VIN:
WBAAL11010JN10137

So, here are some pictures for you guys...

This is the organ receiver, some junkie bastards broke into it as it was sitting outside my friends garage in Reykjavík, will be getting flared fenders and a new painjob..

Too bad they got my DEPO headlights, but this is how it looks like now... already took out that M43 POS:

Car itself:

And here is the glory stuff:

This is a M62B35TU motor, from a 535i E39 i used to own...

I sold the car and still miss it, fully serviced and maintained... next owner pampered it and then sold it on to some ***** that treated it like **** and ended up destroying it...

I got the motor from the crash car but the "*****" had already parted out the transmission, flywheel and clutch...

So i will be using a 6cylinder BMW M50 adapter plate and a ZF transmission from a BMW E46 325i, will be rebuilding the transmission prior to install... Clutch is a Stage II of some cheap brand, hope it will hold up...

I have already figured out how to have the throttle actuators work, and i can see where installing the ECU and DME electrics will be easy since the E46 is sharing the same electrics as the E39, electrics will plug in on the drivers side here instead of the passenger side on E39... seems like all the plugs will plug up..

Oh, and car will get a new paintjob in the coming days...

Reinorange although the Top will get plastered with carbon fiber or kept black...

I am currently working on prepping the car, will use the time between christmas and new years to do this...

It looks like i will be buying this:
BMW E38 E39 V8 M62 Tu Engine ECU DME EWS Keys Kit | eBay

and then i will fit an accelerator pedal from a 3series E46 325i (M54 engined) 2004yr in the place where my cable operated one used to be...

looks like a instrument cluster from a E39 M5 will slide right in and plug right up, so i will get a working V8 tachometer and a speedometer that reads 320kph.

this is what i will be doing about the motor-mount issue:

This is a picture of where the sway bar mounts would usually bolt up to the frame, i will drill through the frame to insert sleeves to hold a bolt and nut, and that triangular thing is where i strengthened the mount so it will not flex..

This way i could use the stock E39 5series V8 rubber mounts...

The stock E46 (3series) ECU and E39 (5series) ECU have the same plug holes, so in theory this will plug right up...

I just need the keys to fit my ignition lock and the programmed EWS module and a ECU that will none-the-less get reflashed...

I've been thinking what it would be like to run something like two MHI 16G turbos with a M62B35TU ? or even something smaller like two MHI 14B ?

Don't get me wrong.... this is just an idea.... if it will go into action i will not start it until careful planning has occured...

And while i remember i will use a E30 (old 3 series BMW) swaybar, preferrably one from a E30 M3, or possibly modify my E46 M-tech swaybar to fit like a E30 one..

This is the way the Sway bar is mounted in the E30, and i suppose it would be just fine in the E46 this way

Might post updates here if you guys show interest in this

So i'm now going over the electronic schematics, anyone here who's into BMW electrics ?

Anyhow... this is where i'm at...

I'm installing a M62TU in a E46, the E46 had a M43B19 in it with a MS42/MS43 ECU ?!?! (not really sure, not really even sure if i care)

Both are what i beleive is referred to as A6000 style DME, at least both utilize the same style DME connector...

The M62TU utilizes wich DME ?!?!

Looking at electronics from the car, and the X60001, X60002, X60003, X60004 and X60005 connectors, it seems that the DME will plug up perfectly and i will only need to wire up the accelerator pedal...

Hope this is as easy as i'm predicting now... if so i might install a ITB kit on the motor, and reuse old camshafts from a S62B50, that should put me @ ~350whp & 400nm... and all that from a small 3,5 liter V8
