What strange things have you seen rigged on a car, truck, trailer, etc?
Anybody and everybody, what is the most funny, odd, or just plain dumb thing you have ever seen rigged on a car, truck, trailer, atv, etc? I sold an old homemade trailer to some guy in a ford ranger that had the ball on his bumper on the right way at a glimpse. I had to take the ball off for him because his new trailer was a clevis type hitch and he had a bad back. Turns out that someone bought a hitch ball with a smaller shank then necessary. Washers were apparently too nice for him to afford, so he used worn out grinder disks for washers. Wish I had a picture but phone battery was dead. You guys got anything to add? Don't be shy!!

My buddy had a ratchet strap holding the tension on his alternator :c:

I've seen chains on the back of a truck holding up huge nuts in orange and blue gator colors

The ratchet strap was my favorite. Though the bus was quite a surprise.

Or how about this one? Do what you have to do to get a truck home???? (Not my pics!)

probably if the truck was all the way forward the rear tires would be on:tu:
|
Two different trailer/trucks there... The second post, the truck was all the way forward and the wheel was hanging off that far. That's why I made two separate posts there.
The first truck trailer they have it that far back to relax the tongue weight a little... way too much load for that trailer. |
I definitely wouldn't have pulled either of those.
Not sure what the towing capacity is on a 2001 Chevy 2500HD with a 6.0 gas, but I had to pull a Cat 308C CR excavator (18,000 lbs) on a 5th wheel with that thing. Talk about struggling. Sent from my iPhone in the cab of a Caterpillar |

Daaaaaaaaang!! I have seen and done a few tight squeezes before, but that is closer than I would be comfortable with. Got her there I guess.
|
Yeaaah :/ not my most shining moment. Stopped at the scales on the way home, truck and trailer weighed in at 26k -_-
|
How did your truck handle that? Did it do okay, or did it struggle?
|
75 with the ac on for 210 miles ahahah. My friends sg2 said we were getting 17.5 avg

i once had 3 9" ft jet skis shoved in my bed.. ha sorry no pic so its worthless but hey..
good memory in my book :tu: |
I wouldn't think that would be oversized if the back end of those jet skis were resting on the tailgate. I remember when my mom had a used furniture store, she bought a HUGE upright wardrobe that was too cheap for her to pass up. It was conveniently heavy and about 7 or so feet tall, 4 or 5 feet wide, and about 2 feet deep. The rest of the truck bed was full, and at that time the truck had no tailgate and the big in bed toolbox didn't help. She already bought this wardrobe and it was an all sales final place. We ended up setting the 2 foot deep side on about a 6 inch edge on the bumper and strapped it in good. Drove it about 100 or so miles home that way.

:humm: What the hell kind of bed do you have that weighs almost 3 tons? So is that 7k for the truck? Then 5500 for the bed on the truck, making the truck 12,500 empty? Then 3k for the trailer I'm guessing? I don't see that either... I know the 20' double axle trailer we use is only about 2500lbs and it looks WAY beefier than that. It's a 10klb rated trailer. Then 7k for the truck on the back? What's going on with that? I had my 06, our 10klb rated trailer (2500lb actual weight) and a regular cab duramax on mine before. Even that's pushing the limit of the trailer, but I figure that was probably in the 18k gross area. I want to see some close ups of this 3 ton bed! How on earth did you even get it on the truck? How does it even sit level? That has to be WAY over the axle rating for the rear axle. |
Looks like a U haul trailer :humm:
|
from what i can see it looks like a standard bradford built bed. maybe he's got the long sills and cross members boxed and filled with lead... those beds are not that heavy
