Sunless Tanning

Has anyone tried this? I'm thinking about going and getting it done but im scared that I will turn orange hahaha. I have a friend that did it a few years ago and she turned orange but she is really pale and was thinking it may be a little different for me.

So who has done this or do you know anyone who has done this????

DangerousDuramax 03-11-2008 04:51 PM

Until you skin gets used to it you will turn an oranish gold color for just a couple of days. Once your skin gets accustomed to it you'll just turn a goldish color for a few hours and then tan.

Mr. Miyagi 03-11-2008 04:56 PM

Everyone I've ever seen try it has turned orange......so I had to try it...yup....orange.

DangerousDuramax 03-11-2008 05:04 PM

You've gotta get your skin used to it numbnuts good buddy. :)

DangerousDuramax 03-11-2008 05:05 PM

Allison, after doing it for a month you will really like the results. Turns into a dark tan almost instantly.

OneBadBia 03-11-2008 05:10 PM

Ok well here is my delima......I was just contacted by a photgrapher that wants me to do some protfolio shots for him on Thursday in Waco and this weekend in Plano. I have not tanned (in a tanning bed) in probably a year, im not pale or light but I just wanted something to add a little more color and some what fast before Thursday.

SoI guess this is out of the question. Anyone have any other tricks lol.

DangerousDuramax 03-11-2008 05:14 PM

Only do 10 minutes in a regualar bed two days before.

How come you know more about tanning than the girls on this site?

Sorry for ruining your thread, Allison.... :mum:

Whit 03-11-2008 05:23 PM

I have never tried it myself but I do know that it will rub off on bed sheets

TCU Fan 03-11-2008 05:28 PM

I always tan before a vacation, I would do what DD said maybe every day for 10 minutes. I tried the spray tan and I did not turn orange but wanted the UV protection and it has none.

Thank You. I was thinking of just going today and maybe tomorrow but because it has been so long since I have tanned I was worried I would burn my butt lol. And for the record I was being serious about burning my butt thats always the first place to burn haha.:moon::wack:

Find a salon that does the airbrush/spray on tans. They won't turn you orange and they last 1 - 2 weeks depending on how often you shower.

Well having it done at a salon is really what I ment. I'm still a little scared because the friend of mine who got it done was in a salon. I suppose alot may have to do with your skin color.

Well he just emailed me and said he would be able to do it next week also so I think I'm just going to wait till then. Maybe I will give the sunless tan a shot since I now have more time to work with.

also wouldnt they have make up at a photo shoot?

Sometimes yes and sometimes no. Alot of the time for a portfolio shoot you(I) do my own, some photographers though require a pro do it.

couldnt you use a cover up type that you can wash off, like revlon, im sure that what most stars do, with there perfect color.. seen those reality after shots,, theres no color there.. anyhow sounds like fun ...good luck in your shoot.........:U:

Most of the after shots that you see are "touchups" done by the photographer and most photographers dont want to spend that much time on a photo unless it is a star ($$$$$). Most of the cover up types from revlon are alot of money and usually come in like a little 1.7oz bottle lol. By the time you are done buying 10 bottles you could have had a sunless tan done by a pro.

I have found alot of places online that claim "you wont look orange" but Im kinda scared to buy a $30 bottle and look like a pumpkin lol.

Or even look like theses people hahahaha

I tried the Magic Tan a couple of years ago and had horrible results. I looked like a darn carrot!!
Do some calling around and see if anyone in your area does the airbrush tanning. I've always had really good results with that and I'm super pale. And they can do a second coat where you would naturally be darker (top of arms, shoulders) so it looks really natural. It has never turned me orange or streaked or got funky in any way. It's a bit more pricey, but it's no worries tanning - no burning, no orange and so streaks.

Good Luck!!

Last time I went in, I paid $85. It was totally worth it though. I went to another place and only paid $40, and I definately got what I paid for. Most places will give you references though, and both places I've been have had before and after photos of their work. One thing you have to watch out for though is some places get you in the door with super cheap airbrushing prices, but then soak you for barrier creams. By the time you are done, the $30 airbrush they advertise ends up being $75. Look for something all inclusive.

dmaxjenn 03-12-2008 03:13 PM

LOGANSTANFORTH 03-16-2008 05:35 PM

you know if you just layed in a tanning bed once in the early morning and once in the evening for about 10 minutes each, use a good bronzer and you should be good and tanned in a few days, if you skin already has a good tan and is even it will just darken it up, my mom has a a tanning bed at the hair salon she owns, she has all the expensive tanning lotion and creams and all that crap, i just get burned and it turns brown over night, my arms and neck are a deep brown within 2 weeks of summer starting, ill probably be black when i get back from iraq......
