The loss of my hero

The loss of my hero
Very shortly in 2-3 hours my grandfather is going to die from blood infection, bladder and intestinal tearing, and sepsis. He is a WWII Vet as a Army Medic where he earned two bronze stars, lost all of his small intestine, and was in battle for many major parts of the war including the Philippines. He saved countless lives performing surgery in a mobile hospital and outside with his sidearm he also saved and carried many men from battle.
I had the opportunity to talk to him on the phone and he told me that even with the entire family in the room that my one phone call means more to him than anyone around him. That I am still his greatest success. I am the only grandson that actually wanted to listen and to learn from him and he taught me so many amazing things not only in maturity but life saving training and survival.
When he passes I will post it and if y'all can please pray for a safe passage. After everything he has been through I am just glad to know he can die in peace and its sad that I can't be there for him but he knows that he means the world to me. He turns 91 in 10 days and has taught me how to truly live life to the fullest and to be a real man.
Thanks for your time everyone.

Well guys keep praying because he said he isn't ready to leave me and he is fighting this like a champ! He is the kind of man that will only die on his terms and he told me he was ready earlier yesterday but now he has changed his mind and he is going to go all in on being around for a few more years!
I found a round trip plane flight for $400 and as soon as my wife wakes up I will be booking it and heading to the airport.
I will always respect his decisions and he says he wants to live and be there for me so I am going to go up there and get him motivated and give him the drive to live. I got him motivated to survive when I stayed up there for 6 months when he was battling cancer and if he is willing to fight I have to give him the best chance possible and nothing less.
Even with a blood infection, internal bleeding and seepage, low BP, and a low heart rate he said no to the DNR and he said it isn't his time. He wants to tell me something personal and he wants me there to hear it and help him fight so I will be there. I have no clue what he wants to tell me but I am going to be leaving to go up there tomorrow.

your welcome. anything can happen through praying! but sometimes its all in god's hands. almost lost mine back in 2005, he had a quadruple bypass after suffering from a massive heart attack. after that horrifying experience, i started to realize the same way that you are. out of his 9 grandsons, me being the oldest also, i knew more than any of them even cared to know

Good luck and a prayer sent to you by yours truly. I hope it all turns out for the best. I am 14 and I have learned many a thing from my grandfather. How to fish, how to farm, how be a volunteer fireman after welding, how to run a tractor, how to get your truck unstuck in the sand or mud, and countless other things. Let us know if ya can what he said. If it's too personal, we can all understand where your coming from. The lord welcomes us home at the right time.
