Default Locking Gas / Diesel Caps

With diesel getting as high as it is im thinking it may be a good time to invest in one. Are there any out there that are actually worth buying, I really just dont want to waste my money. When my husband worked at ford and they had a car come in with a locking gas cap the owners would forget to give them the key and if they needed in there all they had to do was take a pair of channel locks and bust it loose, it didnt break the cap and couldnt even tell it was taken off.

So are there any locking gas caps out there that are actually worth buying?

I didn't realize it was that easy, but then again, nothing is totally secure. I guess if someone wants it bad enough, locking or not won't matter.

I have a locking cap I got from the dealer. I believe it was $9.00 and change, two years ago.

I know that some of the cheaper locking caps are junk...My buddy has been chasing a CEL on his Powerstroke for about a month, found out that it was being caused by his locking gas cap not sealing correctly. He replaced it with the factory cap and the light went out. Just something to keep in mind

If I were a thievin sort a wipe, I suspect I wouldn't be tryin to fight gettin fuel out a that filler neck. If you haven't tried it on these newer trucks, it's a nitemare to do if you can even get it. I think a hammer and screwdriver would poke a nice size hole in that plastic tank to run right into a gas can under the truck where everything would be out a sight while it was fillin.

In other words is they're stupid enough to want to try and steal my fuel I would rather they waste time and effort trying to siphon it then find a locking gas cap and take more drastic measures.

i got one on all my vehicles that don't have locking doors, all they do IMHO is keep honest people away. it makes me feel a little better though....

your gonna need a little more than a screwdriver and hammer them things are thicker than most people think, ive been thinking about gettin one of those from Geno's garage, or one of the billet locking doors.
