Default Why does everyone always refer to tq as hp on here??

Im wondering why everyone seems to say "here is my cummins its got a twin turbo blah blah its got 850rwhp. Clearly it doesnt have 850rwhp it has 850 rwtq.

Im sure its not a big deal but on any other car forum i was on we always referred to hp as hp and tq as tq, Like my old turbo protege had 185hp and 250tq to the wheels.

There are folks who have that amout of HP to the wheels. Nobody I know confuses the two what so ever.....

There ain't no tuner cars around here we push high hp and tq numbers with diesels.

Ok so if someone has 850 hp to the wheels woulden't they have like over 1000tq to the wheels?? Woulden't they want to showcase both numbers not just the hp numbers???

Yes they would have almost double the HP for TQ. Diesel are TQ monster that is why they move the world. I can't speak for those who don't show both, so I can't really tell you. But most people show both.

It's possible they don't show both because they don't have both. For diesels, since there's no spark plug wires, you need a special optical tach to get the torque readings.

It could be possible that the Dyno couldn't read that high of torque.

True, but to get torque from horsepower or vice versa, you need to know engine speed.
