New fuel lines are on, didn't make any difference. I guess Monday I'll pull the pump and take it to the shop.

I haven't drove a lot of big rigs, but compared to a friend of mines 475 hp cat, it seems to come off of the line good. I know even if it's running good it won't run like that cat though. It's just on the top end it doesn't seem to have much power. Another thing is that it won't blow smoke for nothing, whether your punchin the throttle in neutral, or luggin the motor. Not even a puff.

there might be a set of highway gears in that thing like 3.08 or like a 2.95 somethink alont that line it would have no power with a load.

Turning the Rpms that he is turning, I would say it probably has a lower set of gears. With Rpms @ 1600 @ 58 mph, to me that is screamin.

I have to haul grain transfers tomorrow and would like to turn this thing up before then. If you know what I need, please let me know.

the easiest way to gain [some power] cheaply is to change the idle stop plunger and shim the high speed gov. spring. there is a # on the end of the plunger just subtract 5-10 #'s and reinstall the will raise the fuel preasure. form there drill out the ball in the throttle shaft and back the screw out 1-2 rounds leaving it at least a .25'' in the shaft. for safety you need a EGT gauge.

also for more power try a K.T. 450 torque spring in the aneroid valve. be very careful how you lug the engine with this spring though. it will make lots of heat.

Dont worry bout that clatterpillar. Im goin to give u a link to pittsburgh power. they know how to make a big cam make POWER! Changing the fuel lines was good start. According to them running another line to the front of head is good for 50 HP! Here is one of my old posts with a link~ https://www.dieselbombers.com/big-ri...rgh-power.html
heres the direct link~ Diesel Injection - Where the Strong Ones Come From (bruces horsepower articles its called)

There is a TON of reading, but read it all. Trust me, you got a good motor. Cummins knows how to build em big n small!

i had a motor in the shop that was real sluggish and cdnt figure out waht was wrong with it. it ended up being that the banjo bolt going into the injection pump was to restrictive because i got the wrong one in a kit. id would check that and if its the original bolt it more the likly you just gotta turn it up

Default FIND A MECHANIC!!!!!!

turn up the pump and put a number 10 button in it- yes you are high geared runnin 70 at 1900- you have an old small cam 3!? those never did have power! -your askin a lot to get a tired gutless old girl to pull 80k faster than 58- ten speed tranny? if you had a 15 you could damn near do 100! im guessin you got some kind of goofy highway drop ins made for nevada and rippin!- gears might be best long run idea pump might be best too depending on what you want to do with the truck how long you want to keep it how many breakdowns you can have by pouring the fuel to it what you expect to get for longevity- all your call
thats why f#@%ingtruck is all one word and anyone who owns em hates em!

just a thought how plugged up is the air filter and hows the turbo look visually... not sayin it could have a fuel problem too... also since you just bought it have the overhead ran (if not already)
