Default swapping in a cummins for international gas pot

So heres the deal, picking up a 1978 International loadstar 1600 dump truck, currently has a v8 gasser engine and 5 speed tranny.

What I would like to do is stuff a 5.9 cummins out of an old beat to hell dodge in it.

What I'm curios about is whether or not the original transmission will bolt up to the cummins or will I need to find a bell housing or swap in the trany while I'm at it.

Or should I punt and go with the 6.9/7.3 idi out of a ford (international motor) since they are cheaper anyways and I'm already running 2 of em.

I don't think the trans form the old gasser will bolt up due to the year of the motor you want to install. But it may be possable if the bell housing is changed.

Probably have less headaches with the IDI swap.
The transmission may bolt up to the Cummins bell, but I bet
the pilot is different. Also the linkage.
