They aren't 'padded' per say, however they do have a 'filler' in them that gives them a good feeling. Does that make any sense? The reason I haven't gone to a padded one is because it would make it that much harder to assemble and I'm not sure how it would hold up in the washing machine. I have had this inquiry before and the guy who bought it was quite impressed when he got one. If for whatever reason you aren't happy just let me know.
