I can only confirm what Benjamin said. I use, as said an old Blaupunkt unit from the mid 90's and it's still great,even if it does not look like Tokyo at night with all that fancy illumination. The only thing I altered was the built in amplifier. The unit was limited in its output anyway and getting very hot, causing display malfunctions. So I soldered the built in amplifier out.

benefits:
- a more stable power supply of the head unit
- the head unit keeps cool
- two seperate small 2-channel amplifiers supply the front and rear mid/high system
- the seperated amps can control the speakers much better due to avoided long wiring.

Remember: transmitting a low voltage music signal via RCA connectors causes less loss than transmitting an amplified signal via speaker cables

Don't forget the way you install speakers has huge impact on your result. The quality you get is equivalent to the time you invest to install your system.

And I take alot of time to install my speakers took me two hours last night to install my 6x9's and awhile a ago while I installed my subs it took me five hours to build my box properly

 

with taking time I don't mean the install itself.
I mean the preparation before the install. Did you deadend the door with those noise ex mats (Dynamat)? Did you reinforce the speaker mount opening to supress vibrations?
You will be surprized when you hear the hard pounding of a well insulated door or the same song without prep work, its a difference between night and day.

I never used the delivered screws with the speakers. Get good threaded bolts and self locking nuts. Those supplied screws won't hold the speaker frame very tight.
When you invest your hard earned money in speakers don't cut the performance with a cheap mount.
Make sure the doors are nearly air tight to prevent an acoustic short. Most people ignore this and wonder about the poor quality.
