Default MP3 Player Help

I bought a ipod look alike mp3 player from ebay 6 months ago. I have added many songs to it already but have not in a while. it is 4 GB and I have maybe 500 songs on it.
When I connect the cable to the flash drive to put songs on it it usually came up as the "I" drive. this time it didnt. The MP3 player said it was connected to the computer and able to transfer but the computer wont show the drive as somethings there.
I shut the computer down and rebooted it with the MP3 connected and still nothing. I also changed from the flash drive to the USB ports on the rear of the computer.
I also brought it into work this morning and my work computer doesnt recognize it either.

I remember I had this happen when I first bought it and it either fixed itself and the drive showed up the next time I tried or I did it correctly.

I should be able to drag and drop into this drive with out software and I have done it.

the memory left on it is 70%
