I just ordered 4 of the Infinity 6812cf's for my truck. I was able to get all four speakers for $104 shipped, this was a awesome price as some places are wanting more than this for 1 pair. I know I said I will install the speakers and then see about a AMP, but I am wanting to educate myself a little. I found them online from $40 to $20 grand!!! Like I said in my previous post, I am not looking for a LOUD system, not wanting to drive 12" subwoofers, I actually hate that tubby bass sound!! I just want a clean sounding system with nice crisp highs and solid low bass, not tubby. I am not sure if the Infinity's have different inputs for high and low sides, but I will check. I did read that with a stock head unit I want to make sure I get a amp with speaker level inputs. Not sure what these are for, or if this is true, but I believe they are just speaker wire inputs verses RCA Jacks. The RWS of the speakers is 60 watts so I reckon I need a amp that will put out 75x4 or 100x4, there are so many different brands to choose from and a huge price range. As I said before I don't need top of the line just want something that sounds good so any suggestions would be very helpful.

Hey Kevin and WELCOME. Are the speakers 2 way, 3way or 4 way? I will tell you from experience that you don't need a big high dollar amp for what you are looking for. You should be just fine with a 75x4 amp. You should be able to find a good quality, such as JBL, Kenwood, or Sony for about $150.

Money says a lot when purchasing an amp!
If you want clarity it is going to cost money, I have heard it all "I only spent $$$ and it pounds!" but after hearing the system, yeah it pounds but it sounds like it is coming through a bull horn.

I you are looking for good clean sound look at distortion levels and don't buy too small of an amp, that being if you want to run 60W to each speaker buy a 4x75w amp and turn the gains down. This will keep you from trying to over drive the speakers with barely enough power.

I wouldn't touch a Kenwood or Sony anything. Alpine is a good stuff what’s your, price range, do you want an extended warranty? I like to get a bigger amp then I need you might want to go louder. Your speaker will last a lot longer if you over power them then if try and turn your amp up to high. You should also think about sub nothing big, but if you like crank it up some 2 way speaker won't take much.

 

I'm in the same boat as you right now, but I've done some shopping around.

It looks like Hifonics, Rockford Fosgate, Phoenix Gold, Crunch and JL Audio are the favorites. The reviews I've read are all very positive about these amps. I'm looking at a couple of options, but I've found you can pick something up relatively inexpensive (under $200) if you shop Ebay. I'm looking at a five channel amp that'll run all four speakers and a sub at 2 ohms.

Just plug those brands into Google and check out what people are saying about the products then narrow it down to what you want ... good luck!

I have 2 Kenwood amps in my truck and they were not cheap, I would put my system up against most out there in the same price range. All I wanted was to have the clearest sound I could get without people hearing me drive up the road. Money was no object in my purchase and after comparing all the products out there I still chose Kenwood.

Of course I have all component speakers in 4 doors, (JL) MB quartz in the pillars, a line driver, Kenwood DVD/Navigation, and a bunch of other things to help with clarity.

You can get a nice amp at Best Buy or even Cruthcfield. But others have said get more than you need, you can always turn it down. Every person has an opinion, don't pay too much more than your budget and don;t expect more from what you are getting.

 

I have a Rockford p4004 that push's 6 tweet's and 4 6 1/2 I paid $280 for it. I have had it for 2 years and it still cranks. Great amp!!!

 

you also have to take into account things like wiring, speaker placement, and your cd deck. I know you dont want anything really loud. A good cd deck and wiring kit should really help. As far as amps go, i have a 500w kicker mono block in my truck and it powers two 12's with plenty of power. for the price range i think i did really good. An important thing to consider is that you have plenty of power, you dont want to be underpowered. stick with a name brand,too and dont go to wal-mart for your amp.
