Default HID headlight upgrade effecting Preformance

Hey all,
I ordered and install some new HID headlights. These head lights have a HID bulb and use a small ballast to kick off the bulbs. Really like the lights but having a major problem. I've got a Power Hungry Performance chip in my 2002 7.3.....funny thing is that when driving my truck and I turn on the new HID lights it initially takes a power surge to kick off those lights. As soon as I turn the lights on it makes the performance chip go "ape ****".....lots of weird things happen...stalls, bogs down, looses power, etc. I verified that it was the lights causing this because I removed the chip and used the lights with no problems at all....as soon as I put the chip back in and turn the HID lights on.......truck has a chip kenipshit! Has anyone heard of this problem and and how can I resolve it.

Thanks in advance.

Shouldn't hurt unless you got some wires crossed

Yup wired it wrong.
Guess all that schooling and years of experience in electronics failed me. I can't connect a simple head light???? "Come on guys, really"...the ballast initially draws allot of power and effects the on board PCM & performance chip. I'm sure there is some wiring kit that can go directly to the batteries to prevent this. I called the chip manufacture and they stated that either I use the HID lights or the Chip, not both because of this effect.

This should solve your problem:
Diode Dynamics Heavy-Duty HID Relay Harness
