Exactly my opinion too.
I use a reed relay hidden below the dash. A magnet above the dash closes the reed relay allowing to start.
I do have a Viper too- I do use it because the remote has a nice range. That's it.
I do have a multi zone pager installed which is a nice option, if you have to travel and sleep in a Hotel. Let's you know if someone touches the door lock, or enters the car.
Stuff of value is locked in a small safe, bolted down to the metal below the rear seats. Welding isn't required if you use self locking nuts inside the safe.
Kill switches are way more effective- thieves are usually busyand don't want to spend more time than necessary.
