When I got the truck, one of the issues was the speedometer didn't work, i found the plug ripped off the wire going to the VSS, there were bare wires, probably touching, or at least grounding out. I need to pick up a haynes/chiltons for this, but until then, does anyone know where that wire gets power from? I am getting the plug today hopefully but want to get ahead of a potential problem

So I put in the pigtail, nothing, put in the new VSS, nothing. I am now convinced 2 bare wires shorted something out somewhere..... but where do i start? wiring diagrams anyone?

 

does anyone have any idea on this? i got drawings from dodge, but it doesnt show any fusible links so I am going to just try and trace wires...

 

Found the ultimate issue, the circuit board on the speedometer/odometer has some cooked traces on the lower left of the board


I jumpered the traces and had to make room for the wires but the speedometer is working, odometer is still down, going to purchase another speedometer and either rob the board or adjust the odometer.
