I have a 92 chevy 6.2, but my knowledge on the solid axle swaps are very limited so im looking for suggestions on what i need to use and get for me to follow through with my project

 

what front axle do you plan to use? i done a 1990 years ago

That will work good. Just have to change your tcase. What type of suspension you plan to run?

I was reading up that i could run the rear 52" springs from the 78 but someone recomended that i could use powerstroke leafs if i choose to want a smoother ride

 

i used the 52s when i done mine they are very soft without the overload in the pack. also note that the pin isnt centered in them so make sure you put the long side to the back. also if your parting out the 78 you can use the front hanger from the rear springs as your rear hanger for the now front springs just flip sides and cut them down to 8" tall to match the frame height

Did you custom make your kit to fit the solid axel swap underneath or did you go with a company that specialized in making the solid axel swap easier?

 

i did everything myself. if you look at the pics in the link you can see where i used the front rear spring hangers off of the 78 as my rear front spring hangers in the 90. this gives you a 32" wide spring mount which is exactly the same as the older chevy soild axle stuff. on the front just build you a 2"x2" tube with a couple hangers on it and weld it in place.

getting the axle hung under the truck is the easy part. the steering is where it gets tricky. you will need a dodge 4" drop pitman arm. and you will need a high steer arm for the dana 60's pass side knuckle. then build you a new drag link.
