Default So many choices... One weird Jeep.

Looking into options for a diesel swap in my 1989 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. Most non-GM truck diesels are heavier or longer (or both) than I want (although a 6bt would be awesome!) so I am really leaning toward the LF9 5.7L or a 6.2/6.5... The V8s are attractive due to the available space underhood. The Olds is approximately the size of the current AMC V8 while the engine bay is wide enough to accommodate a turbo'd 6.5L with a little modification to the heater.
The Jeep will be getting a full 2WD conversion with IFS and severely lowered... Airbagged, actually, and I want the weight to stay reasonable both from a handling standpoint and safety with the bags. I'm still a ways off with the conversion, as I want to have my suspension swapped before I slam a new engine in. Likely going with a '74 Trans Am subframe as that's what I have at my disposal (and they fit a Wagoneer like they were made for 'em).

The worse possible thing you could do is put the Olds diesel in it 4bt
