Default 6.7 turbo mods

Guys,

Comming over from the CF and this is my first posts here.

I have an 08 3500 6.7, auto, 4x4, that I am process of modding (signature will be updated soon, promise). Prior to further mods I'll throw in a set of 625's, AD150 and air flow upgrades to support the turbo mods. I'm completely deleted and running a MM with Overdrive and pyro.

The stock HE351 is not that great, even on unmolested engines; once deleted DP seem to go crazy and gaskets naturally follow. My plan is to upgrade the stocker through Lazar Smith (if offered by them; trying to get word now) or go with a Spectre 64/64/70. I plan on running a set of 60-100 nozzles, since the stock CP with support it. Along with turbo mods I also plan on running a Steed HP manifold with WG tube and a Tial MV-R gate with 11-13# springs. With that out of the way, my questions:

The Tial has two coolant ports; anyone running one of these using those ports, or do you just block them off?

Anyone running either the LS modded unit or Spectre unit? I would like to keep the EB but increase flow. According to DPP, the Spectre units increase flow, while decreasing DP. So far everyone seems to opt for a Silver 66, S475 or Aurora 5000; I want to be different and try to take the VGT tech as far as possible (under 700 HP; not trying to dump 10k into the motor just to support high HP numbers.)

Also looking at LS head prep and coating services; though not needed I would love to have them completely go through my head and get it prepped for higher boost numbers (shooting for 50-60 in the final stages).

Thanks in advance for responses.

Just swap the 351Ve for a 431Ve or 451Ve.

Been searching for one for days; ebay, craigslist, you name it. So far nada. Do you have a source I may scrounge through? That's the only reason I didn't mention it in the OP. Apparently 451's are difficult to find (at least for me).

You just have to keep an eye out, they show up every few days/weeks.

NEW TAKEOFF - HOLSET HE451VE TURBOCHARGER - PART NUMBER 3767305 | eBay
Cummins ISX15 Holset HE451Ve VGT Turbocharger Turbo | eBay
NEW TURBOCHARGER HOLSET CUMMINS HE451VE VGT 2843481 3767305N ISX ENGINE | eBay

You can also buy them straight from Cummins if you're willing to spend $3-5K.
Just remember that some of the newer ones, especially from the ISL engines, have choke ring cast into the turbine housing outlet. You'll have to grind/machine that out to get the best flow.

For about $2,400 I can get a 64/64/70 with billet wheel or a 64/67/70 for another $200. The 64/64 doesn't require fueling mods, but resonds well to the airflow improvements I have planned, and will also work well in a compound setup if I ever go that route.

No-one is using a Tial WG? Seems as if the Pro Gate is popular, but want to use the Steed manifold.

Then you're stuck with a laggy non-VGT turbo.

Coors,

How was Lazar Smith to work with? Their website is like a Christmas wishlist everytime I check it out.
