Question Turbo's on IDI'S WHY?????

Why do I hear all the people putting Turbos on the idi's? If its not designed for it, dont put it on it, the 6.9 and 7.3 wasn't designed for a turbo, the compression was to high, block not strong enough, not enough fuel pressure. If you guys want to put turbos on diesels id say go get a powerstroke, duramax, or cummins, I'm not tryin to step on any toes here, but please consider what im sayin unless you want a dead IDI?

Unless anybody can give me some very detailed good resons for it?

How does it make it better, Is the block really stong enough, can you increase the fuel pressure to what you need for a turbo?

Your not going to burn the motor up, but you may loose a head if you get to crazy, the turbo helps with compression by forcing more air into the cylinders since diesel run off compression and not spark plugs, you can out a trubo on a non diesel engine, fuel pressure is generally the same as a turbo as a non turbo engine. Reason why a non turbo smoke alot because the engine itself cant draw in enough air into the engine, the turbo just shoves more into the engine, and it realy doesnt bring up the compression ratio. most diesel are 17:1 compresion ration and a gasser is maybe 8:1 ratio. In realty you not hurting the engine if you put a turbo on, your just helpin her breathe better...

If it's not designed for it don’t put it on? What website do you think you're on? Better off modified baby! Granted, it's easy to go too far or blow something up, but the trick is to do it right, and improve your truck. That's why a lot of us are here, to share experiences, avoid blowing our stuff up, and help others improve their trucks while avoiding blowing them up.

Fuel needs air to burn, hence the need for a turbo. Turning up the fuel alone will just make it smoke and you won't get any more power.

You've got a lot to learn.
