Like for instance, my dads 82 lost the headlights and the alternator wouldn't charge. He thought it was a fuse, but I knew instantly what the problem was. About a half hour to repair a bad terminal on the fused wires at the starter and away she went. Doing your own brake jobs, front end work, oil changes, most the stuff under the hood. Heck, I probably saved a ton of money doing work to my own vehicles along with my dads over the years. Yes, vehicle mechanics is one of many important skills to have.

Kinda sucks workin under the shadetree in february though.

that it does. It is a huge money saver for sure, plus it's just nice to know how things work.

Yep, its nice now that I've got a shop to work in. -20 C or below is no fun when something needs to be fixed!

Yes sure is great to be able fix or work my vehicles definitely saved a ton on keeping the family driving!

If you can spin a wrench yourself and work on your own stuff ... Then what kinda man are ya really I e been under trucks and cars since I was old enough to read wrench sizes and just got into diesel mods and I'm really liking the outcome of the changes that happens

Yes, at least I thought I have some skills.
Finding out that the modern full wired electronic controlled vehicles aren't serviceable without computer and diagnosis skills is a pain in the butt.
How can you work on a car without a tester to read the error memory. From there it is still not easy. 'cause the memory stores only the faulty readings, not the cause.
