what was the last year that they stop using the manual transmission where the reverse is to the right and up? i heard that there the strongest for doing some hard pulling. im selling my 3rd gen cummins dually, and when i get back from afghanistan i want to get a newer truck but only one with this style of transmission

 

i know for sure they were still in 05 cummins but i think when they changed the headlights and grill they started putting the g56 transmissions in 2006.

 

2005 was the changeover year, and either trans (NV5600 early, G56 late) could be found...2006 was all G56.

 

well i have an 03 and im debating on selling it because i found out that i have to get a new fuse box ($800!!) also having issues with passenger door front window (i think the switch is out) the driver side rear door electrical (has power sometimes when it wants) and i plan on changing out the dually's to a single rear wheel and it has a rear vibration at 75 but it will vibrate for a couple of seconds and then go away then it comes back. but the PO had treated this truck like crap, transfer case was dry when i got it (i rebuilt it) all front ball joints were shot and outer tie rod ends were done. and i had to change out 2 injectors (the rest are to follow) ill change them when i get back from Afghanistan.
