have questions need answers 05 6.0
Looking to buy a 2005 f250. The truck has 177,000 miles on it. ASking price is 12,995 usd.
TRuck has an edge programmer, and 4" exhaust.
MY concerns, dealer replaced head gaskets, so I'm guessing that its not studded.
IS this 6.0 going to be shot? OR is It still worth looking at? I wouldn't want to get into studding it, so I would tune it down or remove the tuner all ttogether.
With the head gasketbeing replaced am I going to have more problems with the truck? I want something reliable, that I'm not going to have to dump money into right away. PLease give me your questions, comments, or concerns.
My other option would be a 2000 with a 7.3 and 193,000 miles on it.
IS there any thing specific that I need to look at to know these trucks were well taken care of, and will last me?
TIA

OK, so this 05 is out of the question. Car fax report came up with a wreck with frame damage.
NExt option, is a 2000 with a 7.3 and 193,000 miles on it. NOw being a 7.3 I would want to get a programmer or chip it. Would it hurt to chip a truck with this many miles? Or would it be riskey?

Chiping it not gonna hurt the truck, the driver gonna hurt the truck, if you chip it and dont preapare the engine for it then catastrophic failure will come your way, Im exaggerating with catasrophic. My friend has an 02 7.3L with an Edge attitude no problems, but edge eats Auto trannies if you get to extream. A tuner will work fine in most cases, sorry the 6,0L had frame damage that shoud have a salvage title. Id go with a tuner or an Edge EZ, its nothing extream and doesnt break the bank... Good luck on findin you truck!
Ok, I found an 05 with a 6.0 in it.112,000 miles.
IT has a 100 hp sct ( I believe that's the brand ) tune, 5" exhaust, cold air intake, egr delete. NO head studs. Would this be a potential head problem? OR is it still tame enough it should be ok?
ALso it has a 2 speed diff. I'M guessing this is for steep grade, and highway driving? HOw does one drive a 2 speed diff? WOuld I have to start in low, then shift to high? Or does it just stay in high for daily driving? I've never driven a vehicle with this concept.
WOUld this truck be worth looking at, I only haul maybe 2 times a year.8 place loaded snowmobile trailer.
