Is my head gasket going to survive?
Critical flaw in my plan was buying non-wastegated 66/74/14. I guess I'll just keep my eyes on the gauge until I get some studs, but what should I torque my head bolts to in the mean time? and even with studs, will my head gasket be safe? I'd like to o-ring the head in the future but I'm tapped right now can't even afford arp studs- I just dropped $4k on parts
heck my compounds were not even gated. but you better be soft on the pedal as your hg will not hold long if not. mine went at like 42psi but my edge said it was only 34. If you roll studs in it it will hold a while but not sure how long. Just save up for an o-ring job and a new head gasket you will need it. you will also need a bottom tap for the studs and remember when you do it change one at a time and torque it to spec one by one or you will be wasting your time.
Hmmmm... yeah I'll baby it, come spring it won't be my daily driver anyways so hopefully I'll get ATLEAST a set of studs in there before anything. But any idea what a good torque would be for now on the stock bolts? should I just go by the fsm?
