Default Clutch Problems??????

Just picked up my first diesel ended up buying it with what i though was a blown clutch but when i got there the truck will drive just cant use the clutch pedal. I started it in 1st and it drives fine through 1-4th gear without using the clutch needed the clutch to get 5th but my question is i guess if the clutch was blown out in the truck would it still drive? With talking over the phone with my buddy he seems to think its a slave cylinder not a clutch. This is my first problem with a manual trans ive rebuilt many auto's but this is a first for a manual so iam lost could use some help here.

Thanks Jayme

You press the clutch pedal in and nothing is there its prety soft and doesnt engage the clutch.

The only way to move it would be to roll it over while its in 1st gear and use the starter to get it moving. Other than that there would be no way to get it moving from a dead stop.

Clutch linkage is fine, I was hoping I would get out cheap and that would be it but no. Iam going to get the truck on a lift in the shop tomorrow and take a look at it. IfWhat iam I looking for in a bad clutch or slave cylinder? And any tips on removing them?

OK.... no linkage. It's. Hydraulic. 2 bolts holding the master to the fire wall and a clip holding the slave to the bell housing. Go to ford and get a pre bled system, which is master cylinder, line, and slave cylinder. The line probably fell off the master. It happened to me. It takes about 20 minutes to swap.

Yes you are correct the clutch has no linkage its just got the one line from the clutch master to the slave. I was thinking 4wd linkage as that is another problem ive got.

The guy that had it before me put a new T-Case in it and never hooked the linkage for the lever 4wd back up. Well he couldnt find the hardware for it so its just zip tied up for now. Does anyone know where i can see a pic of the 4wd linkage assembled so i know what iam missing?

As for the clutch problem i think its a slave so we will be putting one in it tonight. I started on it last night but we couldnt get the pin out of the fitting that is on the top of the slave. I didnt have a small enough punch to get it out so i got my punches from the shop and should get that out tonight. Is there a bleeder on the slave or is it a self-bleed system? I didnt see anything on the slave last night but doesnt mean it wasnt there.

here is how you bleed them. pump the hell out of it til you can't feel your left leg. then switch to your right leg. after you can't walk have a buddy jump in and do it. repeat several times. have fun
