Default 08 has had cab off 6 times

I have a f550 with the 6.4 and It has 66k and goes to the shop a average of every 1000 miles the cab has been off of it 6 times now, not to mention the oil gaining and the 4 radiators. It has had 4 mufflers for that burn off crap and this time I managed to put 420 miles on it before it shot craps again. I see all the other post of the same bucking and overheating. I have had fords all my life why can no one fix this problem? It lost the turbine also, some vertical horizontal oil crap and injectors. The problems always happen when it tries to clean dpf or when you drive it a little hard.

Why did they design those things so you have to remove the cab for servicing?

1000x easier for "who" to work on? It is 1000x easier to work on the internals of any vehicle with all the body panels removed.

Is that necessarily a good thing? For who? The dealer service dept., maybe.

The 6.4 PSD engine is hard to work on, too much cludder, I think the FORD dealer like the fact of removing the cab, too make more money

Anyone who says taking the cab off is a hinderance clearly doesn't work on many vehicles. Sure it's easy to work on an inline 6 with the cab on. A V-8 is a littler trickier.

The cab on the 6.0 and 6.4 were designed to be removed easily. I think that's a good thing myself. A good tech can have a cab off in 45 minutes... then you have full access to the entire engine, front and back. How is this a bad thing?

And to complain about it like it's a Ford problem... try working on a duramax they are much more difficult IMO.

Worktruck - sounds like you need to find a different dealer bud, one that knows what they're doing instead of throwing parts at it.

Maybe give us some more info about the truck and how it's used and we can try and narrow some things down.

I'll ask one more time: by who? Who has an easy time getting the cab off one of these trucks?

I bet there's a line item charge on the service invoice for cab removal. Wonder how much?

I also bet there are also certain routine maintenance procedures that CANNOT be performed without removing the cab. Am I right? See where this is going?

I agree it sucks they package the truck that tight, but lets face it... people who actually work on their own stuff anymore is pretty rare. Some of the stuff that rolls into the shop to be fixed is childs play at best but people just dont want to mess with it which is good for me Granted we are a large group here that likes doing out own repairs but we are the minority in the big picture.
