Default Heater Problems

does anyone else have a problem with their heater in the 1st gens??? i havent pulled out the heater core to flush it yet but i have bypassed the vacume valve under the hood and i got a little bit more heat, but otherwise freezing in my truck. i also have the problem that my defrosters on the dash blow very little air when on high.
any input is great

Is it your blower motor working poorly, or does your heat just not get hot? It could be a bunch of different things, plugged core, bad blower motor, bad blend door, low coolant...all sorts of things. Go through and figure out your exact symptoms and hopefully one of us can help you better.

check the thermostat

and it could be mode doors in the dash out of adjustment

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

thermostat could be stuck open or is the engine getting up to temp.

Your heater core could be blocked by stuff also. I pulled a ton of leaves out of that box when I rebuilt my AC system.

Pull your glove box and check all the vacuum lines behind there. If you are getting mixed hot/cold air its because your not making enough vacuum at one or more of those diaphragms to completely close the hot and cold doors. Also check where the vacuum lines plug into the AC controls, then follow the vacuum lines a little ways into the dash and there is another plug to check.

It really sounds like a vacuum problem to me.

Good luck,
Chris
