Default Frustated Ford Diesel Owner

I have a 2008 F350 Diesel 6.4L I am looking for help in finding out why my truck will not start. I was driving and had it on cruise and all of a sudden it died . I had to put it on a flatbed and take it home. I have tried to start it and it locked up, come to find out I had fuel in the pistons and oil. I think it is the injectors but no one knows how to test them . Any suggestions ???

What's the build date of your 08? Know if it's a job 1 or not, and if it is, have the recalls been done? How many miles? I assume you're out of warranty? Could be a few things... injector could have cracked and filled the bottom end up with fuel, in which case I doubt just replacing injectors is going to fix this.

We need more info about the truck here

Ouch, if you had a dripping injector you could have blown a hole in your piston. Or a cracked injector will just dump fuel into you cylinders. I would do a compression test to make sure you have good compression still no ugly suprises hopefully. Ford injectors run on Oil pressure unlike cummins that run on fuel pressure of a pump. If you High Pressure oilpump goes out it will kill the truck cold. At least this is true for 6.0L and 7.3L powerstrokes. MDub seems to know the fuel systems on these powerstrokes preety well so he may have some good answers for you. But if you found diesel in you oil Id be checking compression.

Yeah, nothing like the 6.0 or 7.3 here, more like a 5.9 commonrail (you seem to have a better understanding of the Dodges, so maybe this will make more sense now). They use a lift pump feeding a high pressure fuel pump into common rail setup.

This is typical of a stuck injector on a commonrail. It sticks, you have 29,000psi of fuel behind it, it finds it's way into the cylinder and fills the bottom end up.

Everyone knocks the HEUI injection system on 7.3's and 6.0's, but when one of our injectors shuts down, it just stops running on that cylinder, doesn't really pump fuel into the bottom end or melt pistons.

We really haven't got enough info from the OP, but we can take some wild guesses. An injector sticking open and filling the cylinder/bottom end seems pluasible. Could also be an EGR cooler failure too, though I would think he'd have a ton of white smoke and he would notice that... Too hard to tell without more info.

I aint gonna lie ya I understand dodge better than fords, but appreciate the education. Like to hear from him see what hes got to say. By the way ford fixed my gpa ford FINALLY!!! I dont have to hear him complain anymore, The FICM code was being thrown because my gpa never replace the rusty 10amp fuse to it since he blew it on a sunday and no stores were open and he had to go to texas. I shouldve remeberd.
