Sory guys i had to ask this. I have a 87 F250 4x4 with a 6.9 IDI I have been working
and learning on and I love it. Anyway I have a ton of unburnt white diesel smoke at idle and
at speed. Its pretty strong smelling. I have zero black smoke at all even at hard aceleration.
the truck is responsive the first 1/4 of the accelerator but has little after that unless its
at passing speeds. My question is.......is this bad injectors? Or do you think its an injector pump? I just got it and have the money to fix one or the other. What do you fine gentlmen recomend?

 

where are you located? sounds to me like a major timing issue. pump needs to be timed.

 

You sir are awesome! Thank you so much! I had it timed and black smoke and plenty of power happened. I am very impressed with the power of the 6.9l. It must have been the diesel to have back in its day.
