Default Liberty CRD 2006

I bought this car new in May of 06. It's been a great vehicle until lately. I'd like someone to direct me to an installer within striking distance of London ON who is proficient installing a Provent system.

Thanx

You can do it by yourself- if you have the patience I will seek some pictures.
Welcome at Dieselbombers- Is this your introduction or a call for help? Let me know...

So you have 5 years of soot in it? The provent might be a good investment- if you clean the intake first. otherwise it will be waisted money.

Introduction (it's about time) AND a call for help! If I knew where to buy the Provent thingy I'd do it myself. But I'd gladly pay a shop that has done this a few times.

Yes, it's five years of driving, and using Lucas fuel treatment EVERY tankful. I've made up an easy 'extended' bolt that holds the boost pressure sensor down so I can remove and clean it in a few minutes without worrying about dropping the bolt into the engine. That sensor has recently been replaced by Chrysler under warranty, trying to solve a P101 code. Yesterday, thinking that the same code caused the CEL to come on again, I took it back to the dealer. This time, it cost me $103.00 to tell me that the offending code now was P0401 and that the EGR valve needed replacing. This time it's my dime, and I was quoted about 600 bucks. I paid the diag and have severed all ties with Chrysler now.

I'd like to install the Provent and drive it for a bit. The engine ALWAYS runs like a top. I 'blow it out' every now and then. I'd like to reserve the task of R&R the intake for now.

I have the patience to wait for pics. LostKJ has stuff on this as well. I go there now and then.

Thanx for your reply.

Look, it is easy to explain.
EGR allows exhaust gas to recirculate into the intake. This happens up to a specific speed up to 2200-2500 rpm. Above this rpm the EGR is closed- always.

Oil comes from the crankcase ventilation and a bit of course from the turbocharger which leaks into the boost tubes- the intercooler and from there into the intake manifold.

Oil+ exhaust is a bad combination. Gunky soot starts to develop and to build up in the intake manifold. Fuel treatment will not help here. You have to remove the intake and to remove the soot. It can decrease the intake diameter significantly.
Less air- lack of power!

The Provent unit will only reduce the amount of oil in the intake and slows down the build up process.

So as a result "blow it out" does not solve the problem nor does it help. EGR delete is difficult due to the maf sensor giving you nearly instantly a CEL light.

What you can (have to) do:
- Cleaning the intake periodically
- Cleaning the boost sensor carefully
- EGR delete or decreasing the amount of EGR via a plate with reduced diameter. EGR delete must be done electronically.

Sure. That makes sense. I'll get the hang of this one of these days!

Just purchased a 2006 Liberty CRD with 127k. Hoping to clean the MAP and install a Provent next weekend (going Provent over the EHM), but having trouble figuring out where to buy a Provent for the best price. Suggestions?

Thanks!

Don't know where you're located, but I bought mine from R E Morrison Equipment in Toronto. R.E. Morrison Equipment | Welcome I tried to buy direct from Provent center in Michigan but couldn't.
