Tie pressure???

Default Tie pressure???

I recently went to the tire shop to have them bump the pressure in my tires. The guy asked what it said for tire pressure inside the door. I said "I dont have stock tires", he said I am still supposed to run that pressure, "I said what does the tire pressure printed inside the door for the factory tires have to do with the custom tires and rims I have on", he said it wont handle right and the tires will wear uneavenly, I assured him how full of crap he was and that only a college boy would think that way. Whats your opinion on this?

Same as yours, how can you use specs for one tire/wheel combo, to set up a different set of wheels/tires. I have argued with a few people on this exact thing.

well when i worked at discount tire in high school we always ran 60 lbs in 3/4 and 1 ton trucks it gave the customer the better ride and it also allowed for heavy trailers to be towed with no worries and i been running 60 ever since then and i have always had 3/4 ton diesel trucks since high school

Yeah but there are tires rated at 50lbs. and others rated at 80 and some rated at 90, then what?

I went to Discount the other day to have mine balanced, they put 50# up front and 70# in the rear AFTER I told them to put 65# all the way around cause thats what works for me in my particular setup. They tried to "explain" to me about the door decal and I "explained" to them that I didn't give a rats rear and that they had it backwards to boot.

your right about that but when i sold tires and worked there i would never sell nor recommend anything less than a load range e tire and those take 80 as the MAX PSI the only time i would run max psi is when you are going to be towing heavy i mean heavy but i seriously would never trust anything less than a load range e with the weight of these trucks seen too many tires bubble with load range d on a 3/4 ton truck

for some reason after i left they have started going off the what the door says dont ask me why but thats the "in thing" to tell everyone i still run 60 and will always thats just my 2 cents and i swear i get the best ride like that

Yeah, if you dont run the correct pressure according to the tire manufacturer it will void the tire warranty.
