learning another language
i want to learn to speak german. my girlfriend is originally from germany, so that is her first language. she learned english at a very young age and speaks just as fluently as anybody, but i still wanna learn. she wants me to come with her to visit her parents someday and i might even consider movin there in the distant future. i was thinkin bout usin rosetta stone, but i have heard good and bad about it. anybody used it or know of a better software?

so good that you are forgetting how to "speaking" english correctly. hahahaha
All you need for Australian is a few 'crikey's', 'mates', 'cold ones' and 'barbies'.

Austrian, now that's something entirely different.

I've heard good and bad about Rosetta Stone too. I think the best way to learn is total immersion. Ask your girlfriend to talk to you only in German. Eventually you'll figure out what she's asking. You may not know the exact structure of the sentences, but you'll find out the words for objects and things.
My wife can speak Mexican Spanish pretty good, and has tried teaching me. But having our daughter has taught me better as we have a bunch of books that have English and Spanish words for things... and pictures!
That's helped me a lot.
