with a stock/single disk clutch, your gonna just have to take off easy, or your will slip the clutch. in a 5 speed, your gonna have to shift fast. when ever the third yellow light lights, take off.

even with a good single disk, it would take to much trying to launch hard to slip the clutch. once ya got going it would be fine. but if your dead set on trying to doa boosted launch with it, u wil have to heel two it, and and slip the clutch to build boost, then let off the clutch when the 3rd yellow light lights. but like i said, thats hell on a single disk, and might be fine once or twice (highly doubtful) before you trash the clutch.

good luck

biged knows what's going on. With a dual disc you can leave in 3rd and slip the **** out of it while still maintaining a good amount of boost. Single plate leave in 2nd, and take it easy or you'll smoke it. Lock in 4Hi, go AROUND the water box. A little practice and maybe a clutch (or 2 depending how fast you learn) will tell you exactly what your truck likes, best rpm/boost to leave at, how much to slip it, how hard she's gonna hook, etc. Somethin' to remember, if she starts to bog out, let out and get back in otherwise all you're doin' is pouring out smoke and not going anywhere while your competition gets further and further down-track. Drag racing and sled pulling are a lot like sex, you can get as much advice as you want but you'll never know until you get out there and try it.

i'd race in my 94 stroker 5 speed alot. just take off in first. not hard tho. if you're racing tho, watch out when you go into third. if you let the clutch out to soon it will grind. i don't know what is with the ZF trannies but they don't like third.
