Ok everyone mentions it but no one tells you how its done??? Ive searched this forum and cant find anything.

Im guessing ur talking about on a dodge? on the inside of the turbo, there is a snap ring that connects into a groove that retains a metal ring near the compressor of the turbo. Take a flat blade screw driver and slide it under snap ring and pry it out (look out for the compressor, dont damge it). now this ring is a little hard to take off so just take ur time and pop it off. Really easy

 

Is this tappered ring in side the cold air side what your talking about??

ya pull the snap ring out, and out comes the aluminum silencer ring
