Another stalling 6.5
My 1994 gmc turbo diesel has almost 250,000 miles on it. I want it to last double that but have had issues from time to time that makes me think i should retire the old girl. This time i let it sit for about a month. Replaced the batteries and started it no problem. Let it idle for about 15 minutes and every so often it would stutter and continue running. Almost sounded like a cough. put some new fuel in it and took it for a ride. Made it about a mile and it stalled. Started and ran for a minute then stalled. The stalling became less frequent and would run fine for days at a time. The major problems started on my way to the dump. Stalled on the way there and then as i was idling on the scale it would race then idle then race then idle then die. On the way home it went from stalling every few minutes to pouring out black smoke with no power. I got towed after the smoke started got home and it fired up and ran as clean as i ever seen it. Clearly somethings wrong. There is a long hiss when i romoved the fuel cap. The filter bleeder hisses air when i open that. The truck has a new lift pump. New IP pump 30,000 miles on it. Remote PMD. The last PMD was replced for a no start situation. If anyone has any ideas based on these symptoms I could use some help.
