I bought my 03 dmax 2500HD EXT cab with No rust and 95000 3yrs ago for $17000. The biggest thing you will run into that truck is replacing the injectors, when you need to do them it's going to cost you $2500-3000 if you buy the injectors and do it yourself and close to or just over $5000 to have it done. I've done mine at 145,000 and knowing what i know now... i would do it again. And i just may cause i intend on keepin it for a long time.

the Lb7 can be very reliable, the biggest issue is the injectors, I would get the VIN checked to see if they have been replaced under warranty, if they were replaced after 04 i believe they will have the upgraded bosch bodies to help prevent cracking

I can never repeat this enough, Research Research Research!!!! Learn absolutely as much as you can about model of truck/engine/trans before you buy! that way when something does come up after you bought it, it wont come as a huge suprise

My advise would be to go down to the LB7 section https://www.dieselbombers.com/chevy-...max-01-04-lb7/ and start reading posts, it will give you an understanding of what other owners have had issues with, how they fixed them... etc.

Couple of common issues are injectors, water pump, not really bad but headgaskets, and driver side intercooler tube rubbing on a brake line if it's not tight and wear a small hole in it. Plus the transfer case pump rubbing problem which you can look up for fixs on that

Can be great trucks! Like the rest said do your research. The LB7's are personally my favorite Dmaxs but that just because of little things.
