electrical problem...HELP!
i have been having some issues with my electrical system in my truck. the batterys have been reading an average of 12.4 volts when the truck is off. once in a while the GEN light will come on and the voltage meter goes all the way to max, and it will make my exhaust temp gauge and my fuel pressure gauge go crazy. if i shut the truck off it wont come back on. last night i was driving and my turn signal lights, brake lights and my reverse lights quit working. the headlights were still on. anyone have an idea of what this could be??????

Sounds like a possible voltage regulator if it really is spiking that high.
I hope you did not burn out all your lights because if the voltage spiked as high as you said it did then you could have burned out the lights.
Also make sure you check all your grounds. Could be that too.
