idi to powerstroke swap

Default idi to powerstroke swap

i have a blown headgasket on my 94 f250idi with 300K on it and i want more power i would swap a cummins but i dont have the money has anybody done an idi to powerstroke swap is it worth it?

I'm sure it's been done, wouldn't be anything to fabricate being it's a ford engine, but the wiring would be quite extensive. You would need hydroboost brakes and a powerstroke throttle pedel since it doesn't use a cable. I would fix the IDI, sell it and get a powerstroke or cummins truck

thanks i mean i think i might just put blue devil in and if it holds up and nothin else breaks ill just do the head gasket myself and try to restore most of the old parts then turbo it idk if it would be worth it on a 300k motor

Those old IDI's are pretty durable, if the truck is in in good shape i'd say it's worth it. I've heard these motors goin over 600k with only needing an inj. pump or two in between

yea i guess ima get a compresion check and go from there to make sure its the head gasket

i did the compresion check everythings good i belive its the orings on the injectors lettin air into the fuel which is causing it not run right and smoke
