6.5 smokes under load
I have a 98 6.5 that I do a ton of towing with ,it has 135,000 miles on it ,recently I have noticed that when under load such as going up a hill or grade it is huffing a ton of smoke that it did not do prior to several monthes ago,It has been taken very good care of as far as scheduled maint. but has not had the injectors replaced yet,the parts store guy tell me that the injectors are the problem,I have also noticed my turbo has oil on the bottom of it that it didnt have until recently,The truck does not burn any oil whatsoever I just put 1600 hard (towing ) miles on it and didnt lose a drop.
Thanks in advance for any help you have to offer ,I learned a long time ago not to throw money at a problem that you dont understand first.

The injectors aren't really a problem with them. Oil in the bottom of the turbo is coming through the cdr. Make sure you wastegate is working. If you start the truck you should not be able to move the arm on the side of the turbo hooked to a vacuum actuator.

Thanks,I checked the vacuum actuator on the turbo and I can open and close it freely when its running, whats the best way to repair it and would this cause the excessive smoke problem under load up hills.
Thanks

Check the vacuum solenoid first. It is mounted on the drives on the intake. Its a square box with a vacuum line going in and one coming out and a plug on it. With the truck running there should be vacuum at the line running from the vacuum pump and vacuum running in the line running to the turbo. If vacuum is not running to the turbo but is running to the solenoid the solenoid is bad. if no vacuum is present in any of the lines the pump is bad. If it has vacuum all the way to the turbo the vacuum actuator is bad. Check all line to make sure they have no breaks in them. It's common on these for it to break a line.

OK, I followed your directions and discovered my vac pump is junk,I have decided to put on a four inch exhaust and boost, pyro and trans temp. gauges on the pillar,
Any recomendations on who's exhaust and gauge package would be appreciated ,I also have read a ton of stuff on here about the manuel waste gate fix instead of using the vac, is this a good fix or would you stick with the vacuum operation.
Thanks
