I've had both. The electric-hyd work good till the pump goes bad. I had two of them and both pumps went bad within two years after I got them. Electric brakes work ok. They are just helper brakes with a load though. Alot cheaper when they need worked on I just buy new backing plate with all new parts on it.

id go with electric like stated above ez to fix and less things to go wrong, if you got good brakes on all the axels they usually stop ya pretty good, unless your hauling ten ton

we run electric over hydraulic but we usually weigh in 35k+... they even stop that pretty good... never replaced pump on either trailer... at least 320,000 combined miles and 7 years between the 2...

the elect. or hyd. brakes have much more clamping force and come with disc brakes making it easier to change the brake linings

If you go electric get a good brake controller. It truly makes all the difference. Buy a Prodigy and take the time to learn how to use it.
